About me
I began my career in the music industry (as many people do) by working in a record shop in the mid to late 1990s. A couple of years later, I put my copywriting skills to work, and joined an early internet startup company with a music retail portal (Streetonline), running their classical pages (in a sponsorship deal with Classic FM). This was followed by two production positions - the first at Rykodisc in their international office, then Elevate (a broker subsidiary of 3mV distribution). But the big moment came in early 2004, a few months after the release of the eponymous debut album by Franz Ferdinand. I had met CEO and founder Laurence Bell at a football game a couple of years previously, and he had remembered our conversation about music, vinyl, expensive record players, and wine (the game was underwhelming...!). Seeking me out via a mutual contact I was offered the role of production manager at Domino. A matter of seconds later I accepted, and here we are 20 years later! In that time I've worked on countless releases from (among others) Arctic Monkeys, Julia Holter, The Kills, Beth Gibbons, Jon Hopkins, Animal Collective, Wet Leg, Wild Beasts, and Anna Calvi.
In partnership with a great team of people at our offices, I head up all aspects of mastering for DSPs, CD, vinyl, and cassette, artwork/packaging concepts, manufacturing, and supply chain logistics. Vinyl is a particular passion...
