About me
Danny Veekens navigates between wax and words.
As a freelance music journalist, he writes for Wax Poetics, Bandcamp, Tracklib, We Jazz Magazine, KEF's Sound of Life, and the Dutch music magazine OOR, among others. On top of that, he was the editor-in-chief for several print magazines, including his (now-defunct) publication The Find Magazine, which was fully dedicated to hip-hop, jazz, and crate-digging culture.
With his label Rucksack Records, he supports mavericks who "make heads nod and jaws drop." His label's releases have been featured in NPR's Best New Music, Bandcamp Daily's Essential Releases, Chuck D's radio show, BBC Radio (Gilles Peterson, Jamie Cullum, Jamz Supernova, Tom Ravenscroft & Huey Morgan), Warp Records' A Weekly Mixtape, FIP Radio, Studio Brussel, NTS Radio, MOJO Magazine, The Wire Magazine, and Shindig! Magazine, among other outlets.
Needless to say, vinyl has always been Danny's format of choice—so are print magazines and zines regarding media.
